I am marine biologist at the St. John’s Island Marine Laboratory. When pursuing my degrees in NUS, I became inspired by the many local conservation workers and began my work on marine conservation issues. My passion to save the giant clams, an endangered marine animal, had led to the genesis of restocking programmes in Singapore, with the aim to artificially breed and raise young clams for putting back onto our reefs. My hope is to combine conservation research and science communication to promote the conservation of marine biodiversity. I am a recipient
of the World Future Foundation Ph.D. Prize and the L’Oréal For Women in Science National Fellowship. This year, I was selected as the only Singaporean TED Fellow, and gave my TED talk at the annual conference! When not working, I volunteer with local marine conservation groups, and during my free time, I am an avid diver and photographer.
