Prof Ong Biauw Chi is Chairman of Medical Board at Sengkang Health and Senior Consultant in the Department of Anaesthesiology at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She also serves as Visiting Consultant to Outram Campus institutions and was the Head of Anaesthesiology, SGH from 2009 till 2014. She was Director of Patient Safety and Director of Clinical Governance till August 2015 for a period of 9 years, and set up the Clinical Governance framework in SGH. She is actively involved in the Joint Commission International process and organises and promotes quality improvement, safety and peer review in the hospital.
Prof Ong is also involved in teaching and mentoring of junior doctors, including medical students and anaesthesia trainees in both Duke-NUS Medical School and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and local nursing students. She was awarded the Public Administration Silver Medal in the National Day Awards 2013 and the National Medical Excellence Awards for National Outstanding Clinical Quality Activist in 2014.
